About Me

I'm Tapio Meriläinen, a developer and an engineer.

Recently, I have done mostly audio related machine learning for my thesis. Although, I enjoy designing websites when time allows. Both Viso and Porokylankuntoutus websites were made entirely by me.

My education and experience is wide. I have artistic vision of how things can or should be – both in code and out of code.

Drone detection was a fascinating and ethically rewarding area for a master's thesis. In addition, my previous background in audiovisual communications became useful – since I recognized a lot of the terms and methods I had to use in acoustical drone detection: when designing classifiers and implementing neural networks; training the models and performing evaluation for the different breeds of systems. All of these required audio processing in different slots of the pipeline.

Recognizing my humanity and the need to live outside the box happens by both reading, and exercising. They are my ways of decompressing.
